On Wednesday, November 16, Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III, Del. Heather Mizeur, and Del. James Hubbard will host an event to highlight a new bipartisan state law that will provide free family planning services for low-income women in Maryland.

November 3, 2011-- Washington, DC.  Thursday night in Washington was all about giving back and giving thanks at the House of Sweden at the "Horton's Kids 2011 Give Thanks Give Back Fundraiser:  Cocktails & Crooners" in Georgetown.  It’s held each year to thank the many volunteer tutors, mentors, board members, and supporters who help enrich the lives of kids that reside in Ward 8 in Washington.

Horton’s Kids is a 501(c)3 mission is to educate and empower the children of Washington, DC’s Ward 8 by providing comprehensive, direct services which improve the quality of their daily lives and nurture their desire and ability to succeed. These services include tutoring and mentoring along with a host of other wrap around services benefiting children the Anacostia neighborhood.

In an effort to prepare for a safe Halloween, the Prince George’s County Police Department, along with support from the Maryland State Police College Park and Forestville Barracks, will be conducting high visibility patrols throughout the County to ensure children, parents, and motorists arrive safely to and from their destinations.

Halloween may be a fun holiday for children, but for parents the holiday can be a little tricky.  To help parents and children have a safe and enjoyable Halloween, the Prince George’s County Police Department offers the following safety tips:

Celebrates 51st Anniversary in Sept.

 The Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church festival celebrates their 51st annual festival, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 16, 17 and 18, 2011, from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday (rain or shine). The largest and oldest DC Greek Festival is located at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at the corner of 16th and Upshur streets in Washington, D.C. Admission is FREE.
