Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, released the following statement following U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski’s historic milestone:  

“On behalf of the citizens of Prince George’s County, I want to lend our voice of thanks and appreciation to Senator Barbara Mikulski on her historic accomplishment of being the longest serving female Member of the United States Congress.

Marylanders can vote early for the Presidential Primary beginning Saturday, March 24, 2012 through Thursday, March 29, 2012.  The early voting centers will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. each day of early voting, except for Sunday.  Early voting centers will open on Sunday, March 25th from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m.  Voters who are in line by the closing time will be allowed to vote.

“The Board of Elections is excited about early voting.  This will give Prince George’s County voters the option of voting at their convenience and I encourage them to take advantage of the opportunity” said Elections Administrator Alisha Alexander.

County Executive Testifies To Implement Bag Fee In Prince George's County

Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III testified Tuesday in front of the Maryland General Assembly to allow Prince George's County the authorization necessary to implement a bag fee on all non-disposable bags. 

"Litter harms our environment and costs taxpayer dollars," said County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III on Tuesday via Twiter.  He went on to say, "Last year, we picked up 7,000 tons of trash, including plastic bags." 

The Maryland General Assembly meets in Annapolis each year for 90 days to act on over 2300 bills including the bag fee, and Maryland’s annual budget. By passing the HB 895 bill, Prince George's County will then be given the right to debate the issue in front of the County Council.
